I have no idea why there is no 2 June episode of Flook. Maybe there is one. I couldn't find it though.

On June 2, 1953 the coronation of QEII took place - given that you source these from a Canadian paper, and that Canada is a member of the British Commonwealth, perhaps the editors cancelled the comics for that day's edition as some blinkered token of respect (comic strips being such frivolous things, after all).
