nobody home?

One day one way or another (as previously mentioned) this will end, or I will end and this will stay until it doesn't.

I don't know if Blogger is a happy, healthy entity or whether next week it will all disappear except all us bloggers will be getting emails from companies in Romania saying 'good news! We can recover all your blog entries for only $22.87 per entry' (sorry Romania, I thought of you only because I am getting harassed by a Romanian-based English-language journal to submit a paper, as though I have papers sitting around just looking for a niche for me to poke them into). The entries will be randomly chosen and many of them will be from other blogs.

When blogs suddenly disappear it'll make the news along the lines of, 'yes they still exist! Or rather, they did', like when someone finally pulls the pin on myspace (assuming this hasn't already happened).

I  am flagging a potential issue because, just a moment ago, I tried to log in to this account and was then given an option by google to create a blog under rules decreed by the European Union. I had no idea what that was about but assumed I would just have to keep trying to do what I wanted to do until they stopped asking, a tactic that sometimes works and in this case did. Anyway, just mentioning it. Perhaps blogger costs nothing to run and aids the large language models of the world, so it will be enabled to continue by the bots which control us, I don't know.

Also, I cut my thumb a few hours ago trying to cut some nectarines. I suppose this sounds a little like not knowing your ass from a hole in the ground, let me be more specific, I was cutting a nectarine and the knife slipped and I cut my thumb. One of those odd feelings. It's double bandaged and it doesn't hurt at all. But imagine the knife had slipped and gone right into my heart? Don't worry, I've already pre-loaded some new Flooks for your holiday season entertainment.

(sigh)

I probably mentioned in the past that I was pray to a kind of nervous twitch that involved always spending half a minute every day or so updating my Neko Atsume game which basically just meant topping up the cats in the yard's food. Ridiculous but maybe calming? I don't know. Anyway, the game is now glitchy and I can't actually buy any more food with the gold fish I have. This is not a major issue in a world gone completely to shit, I know that. But Laura noted, correctly, that's how it goes with these kind of online things, they start to crumble, it's interesting. (The cats don't starve and die, by the way, like tamagotchis - they just don't come to the yard anymore).

Anyway, quite a few times now blogger has refused to upload pictures to my blog, and in fact during the course of my last post it refused to upload a news clipping about Amber Mae Cecil. So, maybe there's an end of an era coming here too. We shall see.

nancy's big day out

Helmi stands happily all over the laptop keyboard (she will go to bed in about five minutes, I'm guessing) while Nancy sleeps obliviously in the background. She has about two more minutes of ignorant bliss.

This morning Nancy is going to the vet to have her annual injection and also, glory of glories, to get her claws trimmed. The first is necessary, the second is more than necessary. I would like to get Helmi's claws trimmed as well (she has a bad habit of clawing the furniture/door frames) but I'd need to learn how to use a dart gun first.

Within the next ten minutes I am going to have to manipulate Nancy into the carrying cage, which is always a slightly delicate (read: vicious) manoeuvre requiring surprise and muscle. She is getting smarter in her middle age too, but luckily so am I.

Since one day it will be remedied probably, in some fashion, I should just explain the previous post: in the new Blogger interface, the 'NEW POST' button becomes overlaid with the 'Posts' (i.e., previous posts) button, and while I don't know which one 'pressing' it actually selects, I do know it's not possible to want both at once.

cordite avenue bridge again

For some meaningless obscure stupid reason I got it into my head that there was another way to walk on the east side of the Maribyrnong nort...
