HNY
So 2015 was on the whole a pretty awful year which I am glad to be finished with, although I know also 'terrible' is relative and being a person of the first world the problems were pretty much of that variety. The last day of 2015 was stultifyingly hot, too and the promised cool change was pretty minor. The next week is going to be an array of days just under 30 degrees, I gather. Sucks.
Now it's half past one in the morning and I am going to have some pomegranate juice. Salut!

the lorraine crescent story
Well, it's been two years now as of this post so it's probably time to come clean. I don't live at Lorraine Crescent any more and I haven't since the very beginning of 2014. Mia and I separated then. It was on the cards for some time. These things happen. That sounds glib but it's better perhaps than saying it's not really anyone's business but ours, though trust me, a lot of people thought it really was their business.
I am often at Lorraine because I go and visit the dogs, or look after the place whenever Mia is out of town. So it did not seem inappropriate to continue the blog under the name. I still own 50% of the house! Also, for blogging purposes it was at least as much a state of mind as a place.
I am living in Clifton Hill right now, one of the most contemptuously hideous suburbs of Melbourne, a place of fakery and wealth. I am amazed that even people who defend this suburb list as one of its best qualities the ease with which you can get away from it. True. It is quite easy, and pleasant, to escape from. But I always feel pleasure calling it Clifton Hole* because it is a hole. With a few exceptions it's a soulless dump.
To go back to para one, sorry if you were one of the people who I actually know, but didn't know about this change in my circumstances. I didn't want to make a big thing of it until I knew what was really going to happen, and then most people seemed to know anyway, and it was kind of painful to discuss. Still is.
*Double pleasure because it is an appropriation of the putdown of Swan Hill as Swan Hole. And Swan Hill is worth a billion Clifton Hills.
