the early 70s was all juxtaposition


October 1970, everyone had their arms out in the air, from Barbra to, um, whoever that is on the left, to Thumbelina. This is from the Springfield Leader and Press 11 October 1970. Don't ask me to explain any more please. I can't talk now.

Lawks, man, it's Gig Young, who played the Master Of Ceremonies in "Horses"....and arms out has always been around in one form or other. It's been more annoying the last couple of decades as it's supposed to indicate some kind of spiritual thing these days. An epiphany, if you will. Tim Robbins did it for no reason, having broken out of jail, in "The Shawshank Redemption...Kate'n'Leonardo did it in "Titanic"....Natalie Portman thrust 'em out in "V For Vendetta".

No matter, because I would have been straight to the Sunset to see "Valley Of Gwangi" and "Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun"....I do miss the amusements pages in newspapers.
