Do you think it's funnier as 'pat rear', or 'P at rear'? I have to say I always read it as 'pat rear', probably because it's situated outside a (sorry, but true) very frou-frou frock shop in Bexley. But who knows. Either way, I bet it's deliberate - a conversation starter.
